The Right Flag For Me

One of the questions we get asked is “what type of flag material is right for me?”
There are a lot of options out there when it comes to what flags are made of, so this is definitely a valid question, and a good one to ask if you’re thinking about purchasing a new flag. Curious about your options when it comes to flag materials? We’ll review the most popular materials used in our flags and the advantages of each so you can make a well informed decision when selecting your next flag!
American Made Flags - The Easy Choice
At Eagle Mountain Flag and Flagpole, our flags are 100% manufactured in the USA to be of the highest possible quality (with the exception of our collegiate flags). Buying an American-made flag not only helps support the US economy but also ensures that you receive an exceptional product from the finest materials. Low-cost foreign-made options are usually constructed of materials that fall apart quickly and need more frequent replacements. Choosing an American-made flag is the easy choice.
Nylon Flags – Most Popular
Nylon flags are strong, lightweight, are fade-resistant, and resist mildew making nylon the most popular choice for outdoor use. We highly recommend nylon for all residential and commercial fair-weather zones.. These flags can be flown on any size flagpole, including the house-mounted poles.
RePatriot Flag – Recycled Material
RePatriot Flag is a veteran founded, America based U.S. Flag manufacturer. We proudly sell eco-friendly American Flags that are 100% re-made in the USA derived from recycled water bottles. Each flag has extra stitching, compared to the average nylon flag, and reinforced pocket corners. This flag will withstand high winds and is more versatile than polyester flags. Due to its unique fabric’s composition, the RePatriot will maintain its vibrant colors and fly in lower winds than its polyester counterparts.
Polyester Flags – Best for High Winds
Polyester flags are heavy-duty flags built for mariners, sea breezes and TOUGH weather. These two-ply flags can withstand high winds and daily use and abuse. Keep in mind that it's "heavy" duty, so it's too heavy for a house-mounted flagpole. There a few different subcategories
Extra Tough
This material is a favorite nation wide. It is woven with 2-ply polyester yarn creating the strength of polyester but also rich in colors. This is a more durable alternative to older cotton flags. Note that 10 MPH or greater is needed to achieve lift.
Ultra Tough
Very similar to our Extra Tough’s material, however, the Ultra Tough has 4 additional row of stitching on the fly end as well as reinforced corner to give you additional protection, increased lifespan, and stops frying in their tracks. Flags made in this material need winds of 12 MPH or greater to achieve lift.
Cotton Flags
This is a more traditional looking flag with vibrant and long lasting colors. This heavy weight cotton material allows for good wearing quality for excellent appearance overall value. Typically cotton flags are great for indoor display. For outdoor flying, we recommend the Extra Tough as a fitting alternative as it has the look and feel of cotton flags.
