Product Description
This flag was used by the DeWitt colonists who flew it between the 1820s and 1830s to represent the state of Coahuila y Tejas, which was part of Mexico. The two stars in the white field represent the territories comprising Texas and Coahuila. The green, white, and red fields are the colors of Mexico, to which the Tejanos of Coahuila y Tejas wished to show allegiance. It is one of at least three flags that are believed to have flown over the Alamo. Col. Juan Almonte, aid to Santa Anna, states, “The enemy, as soon as the march of the division was seen, hoisted the tri-colored flag with two stars, designed to represent Coahuila and Texas” in his journal entry about the siege and battle of the Alamo.
