Key Features:
In January 1951, the UN Command launched offensive operations in the Korean War, prioritizing enemy attrition over territorial capture. UN forces, backed by air support, advanced northward, encountering resistance. Key events included capturing Kimpo Air Base and airdropping supplies at Munsan. In March, Seoul was reclaimed, but Communist forces gained air superiority in "MiG Alley." F-86 Sabrejets engaged in aerial battles, while Bomber Command targeted infrastructure. The Eighth Army reached the 38th parallel by March 31. Truman replaced MacArthur with Ridgway in April. Despite UN forces moving beyond the 38th parallel, a counterattack by North Korean and Chinese forces led to a halt in their advance.
